Hi. I just bought the swaybars in this photo. Can anyone ID exactly what it is? They are very nicely made, and one bar has tapered legs. It seems to be Abarth replica items, as the mounting brackets have ABA 2191 marked on them. There are some bits missing and I'd like to find out where I can find them, so I don't have to fabricate them.
I am not sure how the spherical rod ends are meant to be attached to the front spring and rear trailing arms. There is only one pin for the spherical rod ends, and there are no brackets to mount to the front spring or rear trailing arms. If I can't get these, can I adapt ones from a Fiat 850? I am also missing the clamps that go over the polyurethane bushings, and one pair of bushings. Similarly, can 850 parts be adapted?
I am also not sure where the special sheet metal brackets in the photo are supposed to go. Would anyone have drawings or photos showing where these go on an Abarth?
Thanks,
Gil
hi zippyfiat - quite nice find!
I will not help you with swaybars but i know other parts where should goes, and all thanks to this infos -- >> http://users.ntplx.net/~kinukoyc/Pages/technical_section.html
you should find there some infos about where to put this metal sheets!
Hello Gil,
I see fenix has pointed you to Mahlon Craft's excellent site and the technical section in it on reinforcing plates for TC's and TCR's
scuderiatopolina also has a good section on relative performance of different types of sway bars on 600 chassis derived cars
The items you have are Abarth replicas of bars and of sheet metal reinforcing and mounting plates.I got mine from that catalogue source I have mentioned previously. All your missing bits are available from that source.
I attach a few illustrations of sway bars which should solve most of your questions.
There are different ends to the links joining bars to front suspension depending on whether leaf spring or wishbone front suspension is used.
The alloy saddles to hold bars to body are ABA1770 from that catalogue source I mentioned, bushes are urethane or rubber of your own source
Please ask if further questions Cheers Trevor
this is a kit from Berni Motori, good stuff
