Hi
Dumb question of the day :)
I was working on my 1959 600 today
I pulled the cover of the transmission and it has the starter that has a cable going to the solenoid ,
Where is the other end of the cable to make the starter work ?
I always wondered why the key would not turn the motor over !
Hi Dave
The starter cranks when the starter "pull" cable pulls on the lever on the starter motor, pulling starter shaft gears into mesh with flywheel ring gear and also closing internal electrical contacts to turn the starter armature. The "pull" cable is actuated by one of the two levers on the floor tunnel between the front seats. The other lever is for the choke. Usually the starter will operate whether the ignition switch is "on" or not.

Cheers Trevor
thanks....
it has 2 levers in front of the hand brakr arm ,
I thought they were for the heaters !
