Title: 127 oil drive shaft for 903?
Post by: Thad on March 10, 2008, 07:07:07 PM
I have a clockwise rotating 903 running in my 600. I have managed to strip the gears on the oil pump/distributor shaft. I believe this is a standard Fiat part as used on the 127. Can anyone confirm/deny this? Does anyone have one available for sale? You can email me at thadkirk(at)hotmail.com
Thanks
Thad

Thad,

The oil pump shaft/gear is the same as the 127 engine, if it had a distributor.  The current oil pump shaft from 903cc engines being sold today are different, as there is no distributor any longer.  Fiat when they made the new shafts left off the splined bit at one end for the distributor.  The bad news is that this type of oil pump shaft is in short supply.  It appears that Fiat is no longer making it.  I have a limited supply of them (new).

More importantly, do you know WHY it sheared the teeth off the gear?
