Hello,
does anyone know if there is any reinforced set of axles for Fiat 600??? I am getting tierd of braking axles all the time. What did the Abarths used?? Does anyone have some for sale???
you brake the axle our the alum.connection ?
I broke the axle at the joint of the diferential....I did it last week and I did it in the past many times, all at the same spot. The alum connection is no problem...I usually brake a couple evry year, so I just keep some with me in the car and repair it in no time
I did rally for 5 years with this cars and can give you a small hint .You take your axle and grind two flat small parts on it .On that moment you have more oil between the parts and mayby it will be better .This is a good methode on all 600 base cars
Contact Paul vander Heyden at www.Scuderiatopolino.com He's in the process of developing a set of axles using inner and outer CV joints. He has race tested them too. I am going to buy a set when they are available. Also check out his website. He has lots of nice stuff for sale.

Hi Fiat 600 frind
I now the problem very wel, If you can find a gear box fron a Fiat 600 T (van) your problems are gone. This gear box have a stronger axle, same as the 850, but is lower in ratio, it is easy to install the std. Fiat 600 ring and pinion + gear set in it Good look
Best regards ABARTH 1000TCR

how much should be grinded? it wont make the axle more fragil?
I have a lathe so I cheated, but I took a set of Alfa Alfetta axles and made them work. They are super. The hub and bearings and everything (cv's etc.). I also did the Greg Schmidt transmission gearing change for my four speed box using a multipla shaft. This is a must.
Breaking the cross pin out of the end of the axle is generally a function of the car being aggressively lowered. What occurs is that with the car in chassis roll, as you are going though a corner, the suspension on one side compresses and moves the joint inboard, above level. Sometimes the shaft catches on the 'stone slot' and good-bye axle.
