Hello,
I bought a fiat 600 d from 1970 and i'm restoring the car.
Well at the moment the engine is open to clean, change the oil pump, segments (STD) and i was thinking that theres probably lots of stuff that can be changed and improove my car.
Can anyone give me some tips and tell me brands or something so i can see where to find it in Portugal?
Let me know what i can change :D
Here is a pictures on my engine by the way.

Anda alguém neste forum á procura de um motor do a112 abarth para pôr num 600.
Somebody in this forum is looking for a A112 abarth engine to put in a 600.
gelukkig dat wij dit alllemaal verstaan .Please keep it in (garage)englisch so most other people pick also up some info thanks
I´m sorry Guy.
thanks ,that you understand this.I see the are many Abarth 600 and 124 abarth in your country.I hope to come one fiva regularity rally there
Please come! If so please say something because it will be nice to know you.
You have probably learned by now that the only way to make a 600 faster is to put in a Fiat 850 or Autobianchi A112 engine.
yeah
at the moment i have the standart 600 block with a fiat uno 45 head and a 32 dmtr carb. i guess i'll upgrade for a fiat 127 903cc engine soon...
Hello alapimba , a good way is putting a 903 engine with a OMP exhaust and with yor 32 DMTR will be so fast !
Regards !
You could also install a Fiat 124 twincam motor using the Abarth (or PBS) 1300/124 bellhousing adapter. By using the twincam engine, you don't even have reverse the rotation. I used to know an Abarth Berlina Corsa that had this engine in it. The owner used to race it at autocross events, and the car was VERY VERY fast. You would definitely need to do some serious suspension and brake upgrading with this engine setup.

Gil
hallo ,this is not working ,you need to let turn your engine to left like I did in my anarth simca 2000 with the ( oil)shaft that sit on oilpomp
which mods should be done in the suspension to make the car more stable but yet confortable (it's not for race, it's for street use)
Tay with normale springs but invest in a set off very good shocks
I have te 903cc engine regrind to 950cc and Abarth head and carburator with OMP exaust. I have KONIS installed in all wheels. The car is very steady with that setup.
Hi Guy. This does not make sense? To use a 124 pushrod motor in my 850 coupe, I need to reverse the 124 rotation (which I have done). Theefore, any 124 motor should turn in the same direction as a 600 engine. I know this works, because I have seen an Abarth with this done to it. The only problem with a 124 motor in a 600 though, is that it hangs out the back farther, and is heavier.

hallo guy,is it guy our Guy? Its now Guy here .I now this good because I did this in other way and fit a 2000 in a 850 chassis/gearbox .I am still looking for a PBS kit that was there but I wish to have one more .
Guy, you have a hillclimb 600 that had a 1300 128 engine.
Since the 124 engine is too big, Is the 128 engine a good way to get a lot of power into a 600?
Jim Oddie
the where very fast with it in hillclim ,I did not drive this .
Guy which shocks you recomend for me? spax? koni? other brand? front and rear? which references? Thanks
Hi I used to have a race car 600 and I really loved the KYB gasadjust shocks. Cheap too. Do you have A112 cars in portugal? I also Highly recommend that you change out the outside stub axles. Maybe Guy has a nice solution for you? If you look through the posts you will see many cars rolled with broken axles...
yes ,this is truth.I change the glidding part on shaft also to the wheelside(it fits direct)and make a lobro connection like on Simca 1000 coupe/berline) and the dident broke anymore in rallys
Guy, do you have a pic of that axle convertion or maybe a guide how to do it and what parts needed? Thanks
I am also interested in learning how to do this CV joint conversion.
Thanks,
Gil
